While there are a number of ways to improve indoor air quality, a whole–home air filtration system is one of the most effective ways to eliminate indoor air pollutants. Air cleaners come in a variety of styles that target different contaminants, such as pet dander, dust mites, and pollen. Ierna’s Heating & Cooling offers a wide selection of air cleaners to residents and customers throughout the service area. If you want cleaner air inside your home, call us today to get started!

Mechanical vs. Electronic Air Cleaners
Both mechanical and electronic air cleaners can be installed as part of your heating and cooling system; however, each one is more effective at targeting certain types of pollutants. For instance, mechanical air cleaners can help to eliminate larger particles more efficiently than electronic ones. Conversely, electronic air cleaners work better when you need to target smaller particles.
The other main difference is the initial cost and ongoing operating and maintenance costs. Mechanical air cleaners use less electricity and are typically easier to maintain than electronic air cleaners, namely because of the ionizer that the electronic cleaner uses to trap particles. Call us any time to learn more about the different types of air cleaners and their benefits.
High efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters must meet certain requirements in order to be labeled as a true HEPA filter. The air handler and ductwork in a standard residential HVAC system are not designed to work with true HEPA filters due to the filter’s size and its airflow resistance. There would need to be enough capacity to accommodate the filter, so unless you have a system that is specifically designed to handle HEPA filters, your system probably uses a standard air filter; however, you can get more efficient filters that work with your system. You can also install air cleaners and UV lights for extra protection and to improve the air quality inside your home. Call us today if you have any questions about our air filtration products.
