LOCAL COMPANY CREATES EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT THROUGH CHILI COOK OFF
IERNA’s Heating, Cooling & Plumbing Boosts Employee Morale Through Engaging, COVID-Safe Company Event.
Tampa, FL. – Feb 1 – IERNA’s Heating, Cooling & Plumbing (Lutz, FL) hosted their second Chili Cook Off in over eight years on January 28th. Their first event brought together local small businesses from around the area, however in compliance with CDC guidelines, the HVAC and plumbing company sought a smaller, more familiar scale for the second time around.
“IERNA’s prides itself on its employee-centric values and initiatives,” said Charlene Ierna, Owner and President of the company. “From Christmas parties and backyard barbecues to company cruises to Cozumel, we really strive to show our employees how much we value them and their hard work.”
The contest was judged by three locally known celebrities and friends of the company. Anthony Becht, former tight end for the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Veronica Alfaro, former WQYK radio personality and voice actress, and Chad Wetzel, President of Carrier Enterprise Florida each tasted twelve chilis to determine the winner of the $500 cash prize (plus some extra swag.)
Second place received $250 and third place pocketed $100 alongside a plethora of Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems merchandise.
“To be a part of a company that truly takes a role in the happiness of its employees is such a blessing,” said Megan Schwarz, first place winner of the cook off. “Especially today, boosting morale and creating engagement is so important to the quality of a workplace and I think IERNA’s is definitely doing it right.”
In a May 2020 report by Gallup, a research and analytics firm, 38% of workers in the U.S. were ‘engaged’ in their workplace. This figure was the highest it had been since the firm starting tracking in 2000 and can be related to the initiatives taken by companies to keep morale trending upward despite COVID-19.
Eager to maintain the trend, IERNA’s Heating, Cooling & Plumbing continues to implement engaging morale boosting activities for employees while keeping their health and safety in mind.
