Is This the Year for a Heating Replacement?

“Winter weather” may be a somewhat relative term, especially for those of us living here in the sunshine state. As intensely hot as it can be around here for much of the year, though, you’ve likely noticed that our weather is shifting into a decidedly cooler direction. Before long, nighttime temperatures will consistently be dipping into the 50’s. While you may enjoy busting out a heavier comforter than usual, you should also know for certain that you have a good heater in place so that you can make it through the chilliest time of the year comfortably. If you suspect that this is the year for a heating replacement in Tampa, FL, give a member of our staff a call today. IERNA’s Heating & Cooling is happy to help.

Choosing Your Replacement Heater

There are a number of great heating systems available on the market today. So many, in fact, that determining which best suits your needs can actually be pretty tricky. The furnace is something of an old standby, and furnaces are more than capable of conquering the kind of cold that we encounter in this area of the country. Even if you think that a furnace is definitively right for your home, of course, you’ll have to narrow things down further. Furnaces may use natural gas or electricity in order to generate heat for your home.

Consider Efficiency Ratings

Sure, we don’t use our heating systems nearly as much as we do our air conditioners during the summer season. However, you should still enjoy an efficient performance from your heater when you do need it. Of course, you’ll also have to keep your budget in mind. The more efficient a heater is, the more expensive it is likely to be.

What About Combined Heating and Cooling?

We mentioned furnaces above, but did you know that there are forced air systems capable of both heating and cooling your home? They are called heat pumps, and they are actually very well-suited for use in our mild winter climate. They use existing heat in order to heat interior spaces, making them incredibly efficient, and they can also reverse their operation to offer powerful cooling during the summer season.
