The comfort of your working environment during the long Tampa, FL summer is paramount. There are a few considerations to keep in mind. Even the slightest or minor fault can often lead to more serious issues in your cooling system. Because air conditioning systems require the condenser, compressor, fans, and ductwork to all work together, faults or errors in one area often cause other components of the system to overwork themselves. There are important signs to look out for:

  • Excessive noise: banging, popping or whistling
  • Thermostat unresponsive
  • Air conditioner no longer cools as it once did, or cools unevenly
  • Energy costs spike from month to month

If you recognize any of these problems, then your business may require commercial air conditioning repair in Tampa, FL. Remember that a professional diagnosis must be made by a local Tampa AC expert like Ierna’s Heating & Cooling.

Many air conditioning repairs can be prevented with routine professional maintenance. Ductless AC Guide: Common Ductless Mini Split Repairs

Monday, February 11th, 2013

Ductless mini split systems are a great option for many homeowners in the Land O’ Lakes area. They provide tremendous efficiency and very comfortable cooling and heating. But like all things, they eventually need to be repaired. If you’ve started to have problems with your ductless mini split system, call your local Land O’ Lakes air conditioning contractor. Ductless mini split repairs should always be done by a professional. At Ierna’s Heating and Cooling, we’ve responded to countless calls for air conditioning repairs. Here are some of the most common ductless mini split repairs that we see.

How Ductless Mini Split Systems Work

In order to watch out for problems, knowing a little bit about how ductless mini split systems work is helpful. Ductless mini split systems use individual room units and an outdoor compressor to heat and cool your home. The compressor is connected to each of the individual room units by a series of tubes that carry refrigerant. The refrigerant absorbs heat and moves it around. In cooling mode, heat is removed from your home and exhausted outside. In heating mode, heat from the outside is moved into your home.

Not Enough Cooling

If your ductless mini split system isn’t providing enough cooling for your home, there are a number of things that could be causing it. It could be that you don’t have enough refrigerant in your lines. This would reduce the ability of the system to move heat out of your home.

Insufficient cooling could also be caused by problems with your fan. The fan in your outdoor compressor is responsible for moving air over a series of refrigerant coils. In cooling mode, the air from the fan pulls heat out of the refrigerant. If your fan belt is old or if the motor is worn out you may not have enough air flow to cool your home.

Condensate Leaks

Another common problem is condensation leaks. During its natural process, your ductless mini split system will produce condensation. Normally, the condensation drips into a pan and drains away through designated lines. If those lines or the pan get clogged it can cause water leaks.

If you need ductless mini split repairs in Land O’ Lakes, call Ierna’s Heating and Cooling!

AC Guide: Common AC Noises and What They Mean

Monday, February 4th, 2013

Most homeowners are not professional air conditioning technicians. It is part of the responsibility of being a homeowner, though, to recognize irregularities in the performance of your home comfort systems and to contact a professional service provider when necessary. Still, it can be difficult to understand when professional service is necessary.

At Ierna’s Heating & Cooling, we believe that the best way for homeowners to make informed decisions is simply to provide them with information. If you notice strange noises coming from the air conditioner in your Land O’ Lakes home you should call a professional. Here are some of the possible problems you may be facing.

A high pitched whine coming from your air conditioner may indicate a slipped belt or a lack of lubrication on some moving part. Both of these potential problems should be dealt with immediately. Insufficiently lubricated moving parts will wear down faster than they ought to, leading to system damages.

Any grinding sounds coming from your outdoor unit merit a professional service call to your Land O’ Lakes home immediately. The chassis of the outdoor unit will need to be removed. It is possible that the moving components are dirty or that twigs, leaves and other debris have made their way into the system.

If you notice the development of a rattling or banging sound indoors while running your air conditioner you may have a problem with your air duct system. Problems with your ductwork can be especially problematic, as they can not only reduce efficiency and damage your air conditioning system but may also result in poor indoor air quality. If your air ducts have loosened since their installation or are fitted together loosely they will move around, allowing for gaps and cracks in the system. The banging of the air ducts may be the result of this looseness. These gaps allow air to escape and pollutants to enter the ductwork system.

Do not take strange noises emanating from your air ducts lightly. They may be indicative of serious problems. Contact Ierna’s Heating & Cooling today to schedule any necessary air conditioning repair services. We’ll make sure that the air conditioner in your Land O’ Lakes home is as efficient and effective as possible.
